The History of Dollars for Mammograms
Dollars For Mammograms was incorporated in May 2000. Seed money to establish this corporation came from Monies For Mammograms, Inc. The monies from the earlier corporation were donated anonymously by a wealthy man in memory of his wife who died from breast cancer.
New Articles of Incorporation were written by Lori Wellbaum Wolffe and filed. Tish Mercier, CPA, filed for our 501(C)(3) non profit status. Both donated their services. In August of 2005, we were granted a permanent status of a non profit 501(C)(3) tax deductible public foundation.
In June of 2006, we expanded our service beyond the Englewood School District to include North Port, Venice and Port Charlotte.
In May 2008, we once again expanded. Fawcett Memorial Hospital came on board as our new imaging center for the women in Eastern Charlotte County.
As of June 2021, Radiology Associates of Englewood & Venice (RAVE) has become our new Imaging Center for all of our Service Area.
Today, Dollars for Mammograms serves women and men who live in Englewood, Grove City, Cape Haze, Rotonda West, Placida, Boca Grande, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, North Port and Venice.
